Obituary

Jonesboro- Charles David Whitney, 67, of Black Oak, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

He was born October 10, 1949 in Harrisburg to the late Charles E. Whitney and the late Bobbie Jean Hawkins. He will be remembered as a hard worker who cared deeply for the people around him. He was a member of Rivervale Baptist Church and was well known as a welder.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Morgan Whitney; two daughters, Pamela Prescott of Black Oak and DeAnna Smith of Wilberton, OK; four grandchildren, Anthony "Tony" Hendrickson, Charles Hendrickson, Kaylea Perusse and Dustin Perusse; two sisters and their husbands, Deborah and Ronnie Wright and Darlene and Lynne Alexander all of Harrisburg; a brother and his wife, Kevin and Tracie Hawkins of Harrisburg; several nephews and nieces and many friends.

He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, L.E and Christeen Morgan; three nephews, Landon Morgan, Brandon Morgan and Brent Wright.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Wednesday December 28, 2016, in the chapel of Gregg Langford Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro with funeral services beginning at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jim Duffel officiating. Interment will follow in Monette Memorial Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Butch Roberts, Dale Barrett, Bryan Clampit, Lynne Alexander, Ronnie Wright, Kevin Hawkins and Steve Eastin and honorary pallbearers, Harrisburg Class of 1967, Tony Hendrickson, Charles Hendrickson and Dustin Perusse.
