Jonesboro – Wilma Earlene Jones, 97, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 at her daughter's home.
She was born September 23, 1924 in Vilonia to the late John and Alice Starr Pearce. She and her husband, Guss farmed eighty acres and picked many of sacks of cotton. At the age of seventeen got her welding license and went to Washington State to work in shipyard welding on aircraft carriers. She also drove big trucks with her husband and owned a restaurant in Black Oak at one time. She also worked at McDonalds for many years. She loved her family and never missed one of her kids or grandkids ballgames. She enjoyed taking care of children and watching birds.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guss Jones; a son, Guss "Boy" Jones; six brothers, Barney Pearce, Henry Pearce, Elijah Pearce, Roger Pearce, Jesse Pearce and Ted Pearce and a son-in-law, Mike Dixon.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Dixon of Harrisburg; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.
The visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until noon Saturday at the funeral home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeff Rose, Ashton Rose, Jonathan Rose, Travis Cline, Chad Daniel Rose Jr. and Chad Rose Sr.
