Pocahontas - Willie "Shorty" Elce Taber, 73, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012. Born December 30, 1938 in Texas to the late William and Celena (Barfield) Taber. He is also preceded in death by wife Margaret Taber, sisters; Mozelle Thompson, Louise Perrin, Pearl Taber, Susie McKenzie, Nellie Thompson and brother E.L. Taber. He is survived by daughter Willisa "Lisa" Taber of Pocahontas, two grandchildren; William Walter Lee Taber and Lambert Glendon - "Gage" Taber both of Pocahontas and step granddaughter Elizabeth Johnston Gibson,step grandson Darrin Johnston. Mr. Taber worked hard all his life to support his family. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandsons. Willie was happily married for 46 years and has now been reunited to his loving wife, whom he lost on October 31, 2011. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and will be missed greatly by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Scott Wedding officiating. Burial will follow in Gravesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6-8 p.m.
