Jonesboro- William Hurschel Ray, 97, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020.

He was born June 6, 1923 in Ripley, Mississippi to the late Dewey and Obie Richardson Ray. He retired from Colson after many years. He was very devoted and involved in his church, Nettleton Church of Christ.

He is survived by his children, William Ray of Jonesboro and Cindy Johnson (David) of Walnut Ridge; a brother, Derwood Ray (Ruth) of Goshen, Indiana; four grandchildren, Chris Ray (Nancy) of Paragould, Brandon Johnson (Amber) of Jonesboro, Jenny Simmons (Seth) of Cave Springs and Ben Johnson (Bridgette) of Fayetteville; five great-grandchildren, Justin Ray, Sara Ray, Breanna Johnson, Adele Johnson and Thomas Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Ray; four brothers, Cletus Ray, Lamar Ray, Jarrald Ray and Melvin Ray and two sisters, Olene Walton and Daphene Ray.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be 2:00 pm Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Nettleton Cemetery with Robbie Cook officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

Lasting memorials may be sent to Children's Home in Paragould or St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
