William Matthew Bickford, 72, of Pocahontas, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at St. Bernard Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born and raised in Doniphan, MO, he was the sixth child of seven born to Burel and Mary Bickford.
William was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving his country from 1968 to 1972. After the military he had a successful career with DeClerk Gas of Pocahontas. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of many memories shared was William taking his two girls bow fishing for alligator gar. He was a quiet, reserved, tender, kind man that was so proud of his family. William was a great father, grandfather, and friend. Our hearts are breaking today as we realize the depth of our loss.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Burel and Mary Hurst Bickford; three siblings Jerry Bickford, Lonnie Bickford, and Juanita Barton.
William was survived by two daughters, Shaunie (Mark) Earnhart and Melanie (Greg) Austin both of Pocahontas; four grandchildren; two brothers, Archie (Pat) Bickford of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Jack Bickford of Pocahontas; one sister, Bonnie (Ron) Elston of Ellisinore, MO; along with many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
