Obituary

William (Hanks) Lavan Cherry, 93, of Bentonville passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville.

He was born August 12, 1928, in Reyno to the late Thomas Lee and Alta Iona Overby Cherry. He was a Superintendent for MRT over various regions until his retirement. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock, AR for many years and a member of Centerton Baptist Church for the last several years of his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas, and Alta Cherry; and five siblings, Hanley Eugene Cherry, Thomas Lee Cherry, Jr, Robert Niles Cherry, Jerry Dale Cherry, and Margaret Ellen Cherry Ungerank.

William is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma Jean Lamb Cherry; one daughter, Susan (Doug) Cherry Lewter of Bentonville; one grandson, Joshua William Lewter of San Marcos, TX; one great granddaughter, Presley June Lewter of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Shirley Patricia (Jackie) Cherry Crawford and Phyllis Carol (Larry) Cherry Burrow both of Reyno, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 10:30am in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Roger Hovis officiating. Burial will follow in Nelson Cemetery at Reyno.

Memorials may be sent to Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville.
