Obituary

Jonesboro -Mr. William F. Lancaster, 76, departed this life Saturday, January 4, 2014, at his home. He was born July 9, 1937 in Nettleton, the son of George Lancaster and Alice Lamberth Lancaster. William retired in 1976 as a Master Sgt. with the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was proud of his service as a Cryptographic Technician and for four years, he served on Air force one and two. Following his retirement from the Air Force he worked many years at Sperry Univac Data point Computer Service in Minneapolis St. Paul and DuPont and also at Borg Warner Automotive in Blytheville. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, travel, softball which he was the pitcher and enjoyed a good cigar. He was active in League Bowling and in Tournaments. He loved his little dog Sissy "his baby girl" and remained very active in the Nettleton Class of 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Lancaster; his wife, Jane Orr Lancaster; a son, William Lancaster, II; a daughter in law, Karen Ast Lancaster, and a grandson, Christopher Scott Lancaster. He is survived by a daughter, Lynley Christian of Bono; a son, Steven W. Lancaster and his wife Cindy of Leachville; four sisters, Georgia Richardson, Gloria Shoemake and her husband Ernest, Dianna Gail Aycock and Charlotte Martin; four grandchildren, Haley Watkins and her husband Justin of Springfield, MO, Chase Gasaway and his wife Leah of Jonesboro, Wesley Lancaster and Tanner Lancaster, both of Leachville, and two great grandchildren, Easton Watkins and Elizabeth Gasaway. A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 12, 2014, at the Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Steve Shepherd, retired minister of Jonesboro Christian Church officiating with full military honors. A special thank you to all that adored, loved and cared for me, Dr. Michael Isaccson, Margaret Cooper R.N.P., Dr. Randall Carlton and the rehab nurses at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.
