Jonesboro- William Aden Johnson III, 82, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born August 8, 1939 in Jonesboro to the late William and Minnie Shultz Johnson Jr. He was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and attended Arkansas State University and Mrs. Milton Business School. Aden proudly served his country in the Arkansas National Guard for eight years. He was a bookkeeper at Abernathy Motor Company for ten years, Tom's Franchise Company for twenty years and Arkansas Equipment Company where he was the manager for thirteen years. He was of the Christian belief. He had served on Jonesboro Civil Service Commission, Jonesboro Housing Authority, Jonesboro City Council, Shawnee District Boy Scouts of America and Arkansas Department of Corrections as a jail inspector. Aden was also a pilot and loved to fly.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Carolyn Johnson; three sons, Chris Johnson of Jonesboro, Tim Johnson (Robin Smith) of Finch and Greg Johnson (Sandra Hathcoat) of Jonesboro; a brother, Gary Johnson (Mary Sue) of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Logan Marie Smith (Blaine) of Walnut Ridge, Dalynn Timothy Johnson (Laura) of Walcott and Madison Claire Johnson Milton (Anthony) of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, Bayne Johnson, Lukacee Smith, Carter Cole, Lincoln Patrick Dewayne Milton and William Timothy Johnson.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Wayne Johnson.

A celebration of his life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2022 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Vanderbilt officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Dalynn Johnson, Anthony Milton, Blaine Smith, Garrett Metheny, Gary Ezell and Tracy Smith.
