Jonesboro - William Gary Johnson, 80, passed away Thursday October 9, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Gary was born on January 17, 1945 in Jonesboro to the late William Aden Johnson, Jr and Minnie Shultz Johnson.  He owned his own trucking company for many years, enjoyed nature, loved the outdoors, gardening, and keeping his home lawn looking beautiful.  He was of the Methodist belief.  Gary proudly served his country in the US Army serving in Vietnam.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Sue Sharp, two sisters-in-law Carolyn Johnson and Alma (Mack) Keedy, brother-in-law, Larry Sharp, and  great grandson, Darrell Johnson, plus several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Johnson and Brian Johnson; two brothers, William Aden Johnson III and Larry Wayne Johnson, and one grandson Tyler Johnson.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the Philadelphia Cemetery with Jim Bobbitt officiating.  Burial will follow with US Army military honors.

There will be no visitation scheduled.

Services are under the direction of the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
