Obituary

William Grady Broadaway of Jonesboro passed away Wednesday, May 4th, 2023 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Broadaway, two sisters and his parents.

Grady grew up in Hickory Ridge spending weekends and summers in Jonesboro. He got his work ethic by working for his grandfather in Broadaway Packing Company. His passion was music especially playing the bass guitar. He played rock and roll until he gave his life to Jesus and then his music became about his faith. He played in the Christian Group 'New Life' making several albums. He and Cherry married in 1977 and parented four children. His career path took him to the food industry where he became a manager at Western Sizzlin' in Tupelo, MS and later became manager of the Barnhill's Country Buffett in Pensacola, FL. He ended his career consulting for Barnhill's Buffet.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cherry Whitehead Broadaway; one son, Ethan (Mindy) Broadaway; two daughters, Shannon (Daryl) Masingale and Gabrielle (Kenny) Whitton; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Brooke and Ridge Masingale, Bella, Baylor and Ember Whitton and Ozzy and Lourdes Broadaway; four great-grandchildren Evan, Nicholas and Aayla Masingale and Ayden Masingale-Norman and brother, Nathan Townsend.

Memorial service to be held at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home on Sunday May 7th at 2pm.
