William "Bill" Lester Sweetwood Jr.

William “Bill” Lester Sweetwood Jr., 82, of Maynard departed this life on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Campbell Healthcare and Senior Living in Campbell, MO.

Bill was born on April 5, 1943, in East St. Louis, IL. to the late William Lester Sweetwood Sr. and Juanita Mae Nipper. He retired from the Navy and was a member of Smith’s Chapel Church in Boydsville, AR He worked for Tenneco Monroe before becoming a truck driver for Old Dominion. His favorite times were spent tinkering with anything with a motor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Juanita Sweetwood and a niece, Jaunita Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Linda Sweetwood; children, William Eugene (Susann) Sweetwood of Pocahontas, Jerry Crawford of Maynard, and Susan Sweetwood of Paragould; four grandchildren, Amber Wolfe of Pocahontas, April Wolfe of Pocahontas, Lauren Sweetwood of Paragould, and Brittany Horsley of Paragould; ten great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Lowery of Schertz, TX and nephew, Travis Moore, San Antonio, TX along with special friends, Jaerry and Jan Suiter, and many other family members and friends.

Cremation has been chosen as final disposition.
