William (Bill) Joseph Johnston, 82, of Pocahontas departed this life on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at NEA Baptist in Jonesboro.

William was born in Elgin, Alabama to Eddie Johnston and Maye Tucker Snow on July 5, 1944. William proudly served in the United States Air Force where he served as a firefighter for 5 years during the Korean War. William also served as Deacon at Pleasant Grove Church for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Johnston and Maye Snow; brothers, Edward Johnston, Bobby Johnston, and Ronnie Johnston; grandson, Colton Johnston and granddaughter, Ashley Johnston.

William is survived by his wife, Nancy Johnston of the home; children, Jeffery (Denise) Johnston, Jody (Karen) Johnston, and Susan (Dewayne) Francis; grandchildren, Chris (Brittany) Johnston, Craig (Erica) Johnston, Cassie (Floyd) Johnston, Clayton Herndon, Cory Herndon, Caleb Herndon, Markus (Keylee) Lamar, Madisyn (Steven) Hamilton, Trenton (Bre) Francis, and Aarron (Tiffany) Johnston; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Brycelyn, Max, Westin, Coy, Chelsea, AdiLynn, Wrenslie, Hudson, Jaxon, Evalee, Rylan, Aly, Anna, Atley, Garrett, Xaiver, and Klaire; brother, Tommy (Debbie) Johnston; nieces, Lauren (Josh) Johnston, Erin Johnston, and Stacey (Jason) Colman; sister-in-law, Martha Johnston along with many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 19, 2026 with the memorial service to begin at 3:00 pm in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel.
