POCAHONTAS: Willard D. Amos, 83, died at his home Sunday. Mr. Amos was born April 16, 1924 at Agnes to the late Isom J. and Bertha Bates Amos. He was a veteran of W. W. II having served with the Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and received a campaign ribbon with two bronze stars, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and two overseas service bars. He was a member of the Fist Baptist Church, Post Commander of American Legion Post #6, and VFW Post #4556. Survivors include his wife, Launa McCormick Amos of the home, two daughters, Patricia Amos Corballis of Little Rock and Mona Amos Saala of Pocahontas, three grandchildren, Shannon Corballis and Karen Corballis of Little Rock and Natasha Saala Wheeler of Pocahontas, four great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, a brother, David Amos of St, Louis and a sister, Marie Hoffman of Westland, MI. Services will be held at 10am Wednesday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Don Strait officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Gardens with military honors prived by Promberger-Traw Post #4556. Visitation will be 5-8 Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
