Obituary

Wilhelmina "Wilma" Ann (Thielemier) Wren, 88, of Engelberg, Arkansas, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 9, 2025.

Born in Engelberg on August 10, 1936, she was the youngest of 12 children of the late William and Katie Ungerank Thielemier.

A pillar of the Engelberg community near Pocahontas, Wilma was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very kind and was a dear friend to many in the community. She was excellent at being the hub of family gatherings and was known as a great cook and was locally famous for her cinnamon rolls, apple pies and fried chicken. She loved to sew and play bingo. She was over the St. John Church Good Neighbor Committee for many years and an active member of the parish Altar Society. She loved being active in the parish, cooking for priests and singing in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 36 years Dan Joe, son Dave, daughter-in-law Jennifer, brothers Bennie, Leo, Tip, Al, Herman, Andy, Raymond, Dick, Ed, Bob and one sister, Mary Katharine, and sisters-in law. She is also predeceased by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lloyd Wren, Lucille Barthel, Chris Wren, Norma Schaechtel, Carlton Wren and Martin Wren.

She is survived by children Sharon Rea (Vincent) of Charlotte, N.C., Carolyn Nalley (Doyle) of Benton, Ark., Steve Wren (Pat) of Pocahontas, Ark., Tara Little (James) of Little Rock, Ark. brother-in-law Bob Wren (Gwen) and sister-in-law, Mary Thielemier. Grandchildren include Alex King, Jerra Nalley Toms, Chance Nalley, Jacqueline Synder, Autumn Steimel, Serena Fontenoy and Will Little. Great-grandchildren include Sage King, Madeline and Landen Snyder, Ethan, Genevieve and Ava Steimel, and Ruby and Quentin Fontenoy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to those who provided excellent care and friendship to our mom in her later years, especially Cindy Jones and caregivers Peggy Rowland, Rhonda Stockwell, Becki Hallert, Mable Barnett, Bridgette Hand, Krystal and Brooklyn Ward, Breona Avery and the late Barbara McFarlin.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at St. John Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Father Stephen Elser officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
