Doniphan, MO- Wilburn R. "Bill" Hughes, 88, passed away May 9, 2016 at home. Bill was born October 5, 1927 in Gatewood, MO to John William and Willie Bell Hay Hughes. He is survived by his wife Elsie Davis Hughes; sons: Wilburn L. (Charlene) Hughes of Texas, Ray (Kim) Hughes of Doniphan; 5 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sisters: Della West of Poplar Bluff, MO and Shirley Frederick of Rockford, IL and caregiver Neva Decker. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be Friday, May 13, 2016 from12-2pm at Oak Ridge Church of God with a funeral service immediately following at 2pm with Pat Gargac officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Pallbearers are his grandsons: Michael Hughes, Brian Hughes, Jeremy Hughes, Brian Westerhoff, Ron Beheyt and Billy Webster.
