Pocahontas- Weldon Harper, 84, passed away September 4, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Weldon was born May 22, 1930 to the late Tramae Monroe and Dixie Johnston Harper in Maynard, AR. Weldon is survived by his wife of almost 62 years Ava Jewel Buckley Harper, 4 children Jennifer (LeRoy) Nichols of Pocahontas, Jeffery (Lisa) Harper of Pocahontas, Jacqueline (Jody) Harper Woodard of Stokes and Julie (Mark) Knoke of Cabot. Grandchildren Amy (Jay) Smith of Greenbrier, Kelly (Michael) Urban of Maumelle, John Nichols of Pocahontas, Jill Tillie of Pocahontas, Carrie Harper of Little Rock, Kory (Cassie) Ungerank of Cabot; Josh Nichols of Pocahontas, Colby (Stephanie) Ungerank of Beebe, Cody Wilson currently teaching in China, Jeremy Ungerank of Cabot, Whitney Harper of Texarkana, AR, Justin Wilson of Stokes and twelve great-grandchildren. Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and son-in-law Kevin Ungerank. Weldon was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was also the former President of Maynard Saddle Club, Air Force veteran of the Korean War, member of the Church of Christ, and part of the Graduating Class of 1949 at Maynard High School. Services will be held in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday September 6, 2014. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with funeral immediately following at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his loving grandsons Honorary Pallbearers will be his loving granddaughters.
