Mrs. W.C. "Kiss" Mills, of Harrisburg, departed this life Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the Lindley Health Rehab in Newport, at the age of 96. She was born February 11, 1917 in Harrisburg, the daughter of Walter Whitlock and Maud Moore Whitlock. She was a lifetime resident of Harrisburg. When she was a toddler, her father gave her the nickname "Kiss". This is the name her friends and family called her all her life. She graduated from Harrisburg High School with honors in 1935. Kiss served as Secretary of the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, Home Room Mother, Cub Scout Den Mother and president of the Harrisburg Parent Teachers Association. She received the PTA's Life Time Membership Award. Kiss was raised in the First Christian Church in Harrisburg. As an adult she served as a Sunday School teacher and President of the Women's Society. When her children demonstrated a need for more youth oriented activities, she moved her family membership to the First United Methodist Church. As long as her health permitted she continued as a member of their Golden Rule Sunday School Class and the church's visitation group. Kiss loved reading, gardening and visiting friends. She took great pleasure in attending the ball games and rodeo events in which her children and grandchildren participated. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Maud Whitlock, her husband of 53 years, W.C. "Buncus" Mills, and four sisters, Estelle Brown, Vivian Griffin, Eula Morrison and Ruby Roberts. Her surviviors include one daughter, JeanneMills and Larryof Harrisburg, two sons, W.C. Mills, Jr. and his wife Sandy and Jetty Paul Mills, all of Harrisburg, six grandchildren, Brad Mills, Dan Mills, Gabe Mills, Willie Mills, Amanda Mills and LeAnne Mills,eight great grandchildren, Legend Mills, Dakota Mills, Alex Laden, Ethan Massey, Madison Mills, Hadleigh Mills, Hannah Millsand Ansley Mills, one great great grandchild, Oakley Mills, four nephews, Walter Morrison, Arthur Heffelfinger, Butch Roberts and John Puryear, and three nieces, Ann Morrison, Pat Chrestman and Donna Morgan. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Bolivar Cemetery near Harrisburg. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday evening, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Brad Mills, Gabe Mills, Dan Mills, Sgt. William Mills, Butch Roberts and Larry Bright. Honorary pallbearers will be Tonya Frazier, Judy Smith, Vickie Benson, Kenneth brand, Larry Mills, Tommy Wimpy, Richard Douglas and Martha Mills.
