Obituary

Wayne Daniel, better known as Doodle or Uncle Dude, 89 of Jonesboro, AR passed away on May 27, 2026 at The Springs of Jonesboro. He was born on July 25, 1936 “up on Big Creek” between Cash and Jonesboro to Roy C. and Ruth M. (Waters) Daniels. Doodle was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leroy and Cecil and two infant brothers and nephew, Wade Daniels. He was always quick to point out he did not have an “s” on his last name.

Doodle was a farm employee most of his life, spending a few years on the Crain Farm and working for Fred and Jerome Boyd before enjoying nearly 30 years of retirement.

He liked coon hunting and raising coon hounds.

He never married and had no children.

Those left to remember Doodle are Cecil’s children, Lisa (Mike) Glass and Joey (Brook) Daniels; Leroy’s children, Ginger (John) Smith and Jacob (Tosha) Daniels; great nieces, Crystal, Natalie, Olivia, Jordyn and Zoey; great nephews Nathaniel and Levi, along with many cousins.

Pallbearers will be Leon Waters, Johnny Waters, Jacob Daniels, Mike Glass, John Smith and Joey Daniels. Honorary pallbearer will be Daniel Waters.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 12:00PM until 1:00PM at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with graveside services beginning at 2:00PM at Gibson Cemetery in Jonesboro with Brother Rick Hart officiating.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Springs Nursing Home of Jonesboro who took very good care of Wayne and made his last years comfortable and happy – he especially looked forward every week to “fish Friday”. The family would also like to thank Dierksen Hospice for their care and compassion as well.
