Mr. Walter Everett Wilson, of Harrisburg, departed this life on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Unity Hospital in Searcy, at the age of 90.
He was born June 16,1931 in Oxford, MS, the son of the late Grover Cleveland Wilson and Lilly Geesling Wilson.
Walter was a retired police officer and had worked for the Police department in Sikeston, MO and the Poinsett County Sheriff's Department for 8 years in Harrisburg. He was a member of Calvary Church in Harrisburg and loved woodworking and fishing. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served his country in both the U.S; Air Force and the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Suzi King Freedman, a daughter, Amy Caplinger, five brothers, Grover C. Wilson, Jr., Edward Thomas Wilson, Guy Sylvester Wilson, Whitt Harold Wilson and John Wade Wilson, and two sisters, Mary Wilson and Alice Jean Donnelly.
He is survived by his son, Matt Wilson (Lisa) of Harrisburg, two daughters, Judy Sanders (Gary) of Searcy, AR and Deborah Jordan (Larry) of Athens, GA, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg with Mr. Paul Ellzey officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday morning, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
