Walter Nash Miers , 77, of Pocahontas, Arkansas died Friday April 26, 2013 at Five Rivers Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1935 in Hamlin, Texas to the late Nash Desota and Bessie Louise Miers. He grew up in West Texas and graduated from Texas A M College in 1957 with a degree in Dairy Science. In 1961 he began farming cotton and in 1970 began teaching elementary school in Rotan, Texas. He taught school for 20 years. He moved to Arkansas in 1991. He loved music and could play many different intruments including the guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass guitar, fiddle, and dobro. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Anneville, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimia Lee Hammit, his parents, and his sister, Betty Blanche Mauldin. He is survived by daughter, RoseAnn Thomason and her husband DarrinThomason, three grandchildren, Garrett Nash Thomason of Henderson, Arkansas, Clayton Mark Thomason and Zoe Grace Thomason all of Imboden. And two nieces, Diane Hendren of Garland, TX. and Cherilyn Sable of Sachse, TX. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Anneville, Arkansas. Funeral Service will be Tuesday April 30, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Church with Brother Jerry Clements officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
