Dr. Wallace Wayne Smith, 90, of Pocahontas passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 at his home.

Wayne was born November 17, 1931 in Imboden to the late Walter and Daisy Belle Hedrick Smith.  He graduated from Sloan-Hendrix High School, served in the United States Air Force, and served as a family practice physician in Heber Springs for 30 years before retiring to Pocahontas.  He was married to Helen Pickett Smith at Imboden on November 20, 1951.  Wayne was a faithful member of Pyburn Street Church of Christ.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Belle Smith; his wife, Helen Pickett Smith; son, Gary Smith; and fifteen brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughters, Kay (Barney) Ross of Shirley, AR and Vicky Smith of Pocahontas; three grandchildren, Tim Ross, Teka Hendrickson, and Matthew Parker; one great grandchild, Teddy Hendrickson; special nieces, Barbara Imrisek and Brenda (Randy) Curtis, and one special nephew, Russell (Janet) Smith; and many other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been chosen as the method of final disposition.  Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Pyburn Street Church of Christ.  Visitation will be from 10-11AM with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM.  Burial of ashes will be in Hope Cemetery.
