Brookland- Virginia Josephine Whitten, 92, departed this life Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Flo \u0026 Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
She was born February 2, 1925 in Monette, the daughter of George R. and Minnie Braden Hout.
She is survived by two sons, Robert "Butch" Whitten and his wife, Carolyn of Jonesboro and Jerry Whitten and his wife Mitzie of Brookland; four grandchildren, Robb and Kristie Whitten of Jonesboro, Matthew and Paula Whitten of Jonesboro, Erica and Corey Loftis of Bryant and Alex Whitten of Maumelle; three great-grandsons, A. J. Whitten and his wife Devan, Aaron Whitten and his wife Ashley of Portland, TN and Cannon Loftis of Bryant; two sisters-in-law, Velma Hout of Washington, IL and Nadine Bollinger of Topeka, KS and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Whitten; three brothers, Gene Hout, John David "JD" Hout and Jake Hout; a sister, Lou Ella McGee.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, August 4, 2017 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kathleen McMurray and Rev. Patty Soward officiating. Interment will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Robb Whitten, Matthew Whitten, Alex Whitten, A. J. Whitten, Aaron Whitten and Corey Loftis and as honorary pallbearer, great-grandson, Cannon Loftis.
