Birmingham, AL- Virginia Morgan, 84, formerly of Monette passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014. She was born on January 13, 1930 in Monette to the late John Henry Chipman and Matery Mollie Bruce Chipman. Mrs. Morgan was a farmer's wife and a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a longtime member of the Childress Baptist Church and then the Monette First Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Jennifer and John DeJohn of Birmingham and Karen and Michael Basch of Atlanta; a granddaughter, Lindsey Marie DeJohn; four sisters, Wilma Grooms, Venita Barton, Josephine Ward and Alice Faye Looney; two brothers, Loyd Chipman and Searcy Chipman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Morgan; two sisters, Angela Molnar and Lulu Belle Wiseman and three brothers, Randell Chipman, Jimmy Chipman and Bruce Chipman. A celebration of her life will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial at New Friendship Cemetery will be private. Visitation will be from 12:30 until time of service, Saturday, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
