Virda Rosella Watson, of 201 Mark Street, Jonesboro, passed away on February 16, 2011 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. She was 89 years old. She was a faithful Christian and attended the Assembly of God. She was born April 17, 1921, at Mason, OK. She was the daughter of Edmond Andrew Wilson and Linda Ellen (Sousley) Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband and the father of their seven daughters, Edward Louis Watson, and by seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her seven daughters: Melva Rosand Kazzee of Pocahontas, AR; Delma Jeanene Tiner and her husband John of High Ridge, MO; Linda Bland and her husband Carl of Maynard, AR; Glenis Wilson and her husband Ronald of Frankfort, IN; Janice Marshall and her husband Lamar of West Memphis, AR; Imogene Baldwin and her husband Steve of Jonesboro, AR; and Jayetta Slawson of Hammond, LA. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She enjoyed the love of her large extended family. In addition to raising seven daughters, Mrs. Watson lived a long a fulfilling life. She owned and managed the Rendezvous Caf in Pocahontas for many years. After her children were grown, Mrs. Watson earned her high school diploma. At that time she said, "It's nice to feel like a school girl again, especially after rearing seven girls." She also attended Southern Baptist College where she worked as a dorm mother. She served as head cook for a large hospital in Fort Payne, AL. She sang and played the guitar. Virda traveled extensively on tours conducted by Jerry Gibbens throughout the United States and Canada, and painted scenes of America. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19th, 2011 at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas, AR with Pastor Terry Miller presiding. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas. Visitation will precede the funeral service at 1 p.m. The First Assembly Of God Church on 605 South Park is preparing a lunch for 11 a.m. on Saturday. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be five of her grandsons and one great grandson: John Watson Tiner, Scott Bland, Zachary Slawson, Oliver Slawson, Jonathan Marshall and Colton Morgan Mixon.
