Trumann- Vernie Eloise Hill, 87, passed away Sunday May 1, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Place. She was born May 13, 1928 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Benjamin and Tempie Holt Russell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Apostolic Pentecost. She enjoyed playing guitar, singing and writing songs to glorify God. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Howard Hill; her children, Linda Mackenzie of Barnett, Missouri, Ronnie Hill (Debbie) of Trumann and David R. Hill (Bobbie J.) of Orrick, Missouri; a sister, Odessa Hughes of Decatur, Alabama; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Benny Russell; five sisters, Olga Turman, Olene Maxwell, Katherine Lyle, Essie Anderson and Berthie Brown. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Jimmy Stone and Ellis Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ronnie Hill, Cleveland Hill, Fred Corning, Bob Turman, Joe Turman and Jeremy Hatcher and as honorary pallbearers, Tullis Hill and Kenneth Hill.
