Blytheville- Velma Sharp, 89, formerly of Jonesboro passed away Monday, July 18, 2022.

She was born March 26, 1933 in Newport to the late William Albert and Lola Ussery Sharp. Velma was a telephone operator and belonged to the Telephone Pioneers Group. She was a devoted member of the Nettleton Baptist Church. She never had any children of her own but she treated her nieces and nephews as her own. She enjoyed crafting and sharing them with people at the hospital and nursing homes. She also enjoyed animals, she even had a monkey at one time.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, O T Sharp, Dale Sharp, Helen Sherrill, Louise Womble, Evelyn Sharp and Bonnie Sharp.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Joel Sharp, Vickey Houser, Judy Mitchell, Sharon Scudder, Pryor McDaniel, John Sharp, Lee Sharp, Sandy Meachum, Susan Sherrill, John-David Womble, Donna Bartlett and Diane Winter and many great and great-great nieces and nephews and a bonus sister, Darlene Winter.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2022 at Ballew Cemetery in Grubbs with Rev. Stan Ballard officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
