POCAHONTAS-Velma Earnestine Morris, 86, was born May 10, 1921 in Sharp County to the late Alvin and Gladys (Spradling) Booth. She died Tuesday in Walnut Ridge. Her husband, Orval L. Morris, a daughter, Betty J. Morris, two stepsons, Robert and Barney Morris, three sisters, Maxine Atha and Eulanda, and a brother, Cecil, also preceded her in death. She was a member of D.A.R. and had participated in Senior Olympics for more than twenty years having won 51 medals and numerous ribbons. She is survived by a son, Bill Morris of Hardy, a daughter Barbara Walker of Williford, a stepdaughter, Tina Heisman of Michigan City, IN, six grandchildren, Steve, Keith, Geoff, Lisa, Kevin and Andy, seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Garrett, Lily Ann, Kaitlyn, Kynzie, Kolton, Kannon and Justin, two brothers, Lewis and Johnny Booth, and three sisters, Levada Allen, Ladonna Cleghorn and Glenna Santostefano. Services will at 10am Saturday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Melvin Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery at Hardy with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 5-7pm Friday at the funeral home.
