Jonesboro- Vaughndel Kious, 91, departed this life on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

He was born July 29, 1925 in Egypt, AR to the late Delmer Kious and May Sluder Kious.

He retired from Broadaway Meatpacking Company after serving sixty years as their bookkeeper, as well as keeping books for many companies in the Jonesboro area. Mr. Kious proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was an Ombudsman for Arkansas Area on Aging as well as being a member of the Strawfloor Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge #129. His hobbies included genealogy and clock repair.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife and the mother of his children, Edith Kious; his second wife, JoAnn Kious; two sons Jerry Kious and Larry Kious; two sisters, Edna Vining and Ruby Herring and two brothers, Fred Kious and Arnold Kious.

Survivors include, his wife Linda Kious of the home; a daughter, Dianne Turpin and husband Danny of Jonesboro; two step-daughters, Tammy Bland of Trumann and Sherry Roach and husband Mike Jr. of Trumann; two daughters-in-law, Linda Kious of Jonesboro and Linda Kious of Foley, AL; a brother Kenneth Kious of Lexington, KY; three grandchildren, Aaron Kious and Bruce Kious of Jonesboro and Jason Stone of Little Rock; two step-grandchildren, Dustin Turpin of Brookland and Misty Turpin of Ormond Beach, FL; seven great-grandchildren; and lifelong friends and cousins Magdalene Kious Walter of Jonesboro and Jerry Wood of Mammoth springs as well as a host of family and friends.

A celebration of his life will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Pastor Don Miller officiating. A private interment to follow at Markham Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until time of service (1:00) at the funeral home.
