Obituary

Troy Richardson, 83, of Jonesboro passed away Friday, Sept 18 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice house. He was born on Saturday March 26, 1932 in the Promise Land Community to Ike and Martha Richardson. They later moved to Jonesboro where he attended Prospect School until the 6th grade. You see, even at such a young age he just wanted to work, so his mother made him a deal, "you go to school until you know more than the teacher." On that first day of 6th grade the teacher asked what his name was, of course he knew the answer but she didn't. From that point he worked sun up to sun down on the family farm. He later joined the Army during the Korean war, stationed in Germany. Once out of the Army Troy started learning construction and went on to become one of the most sought after Finish Carpenters in the area. Troy was loved by all who knew him and he would always greet you with a hug and/or smile. He was quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in need and was a shining example of "I am my brother's keeper". But most importantly, he taught his children just what unconditional love is all about. He will be deeply missed but his presence will be felt forever. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Martha Richardson, four sisters and four bothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Paula Ann Richardson, two daughters Libby (Charles) Smith, Leigh Ann Cayton and one son Kevin (Cathy) Richardson; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday September 27th at 2 p.m. at the Nettleton Baptist Church with Stan Ballard officiating. The family requests that lasting memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America 866-232-8484 or Out of the Dark Inc., 818 E. Matthews
