Tommie "Jewell" Greve July 24,1931- February 12, 2014 Preceded in death by the love of her life John W. Greve in 2008. Jewell is the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Sarah Janie Alphin, who also precede her in death as well as a sister Ona Ford, and brothers, Orville Payton, James R. Alphin and John Wesley Alphin. Surviving are her great nephew and his wife, George L. (Petie) and Janet Aplhin who have also been her caretakers for the past 5 years. There are a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins as follow: Bill and Dena Aphin, Mary Lou Little, Connie Deardon, maxine Melton, Clara Mitchell, Chuck and April Melton, Tommy and Anita Greve, Raymond and Julie Greve, Robert and Sara Casy, Judy Miller, JR Payton, and the members of theis extended families. Born in Pocahontas and lived in St. Louis for many years. John and Jewell retired from ATT and returned to Pocahontas to live on her Family's old home place. If it was planting, nurturing or harvesting season, you would find Jewell, probably with hoe in hand, tending the beautiful garden she always raised. She loved keeping her yard looking like a "golf course". Jewell attended The First Freewill Baptist Church in Pocahontas for many years and leaves a number of loved and cherished friends from there as well as in the Community. Jewell will be sorely missed by those who love her, but welcomed by those who have been waiting for years for this celebration. Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2014 in McNabb Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Nelson Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery.
