Obituary

Pocahontas - Thomas Virgil Giles, 88, passed away December 08, 2009 at St. Benards Hospice. Born December 27, 1920 in Lexington, OK to the late Thomas and Viola Giles. He is preceded in death by wife, Lydia Latane Giles of 56 years. Brother, Earl Giles and sisters: Alice Cummins, Bonnie Toby, and Jane Gartner. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Johnnie Haynes of Pocahontas. 2 granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Darla and Greg McCoach of Mountain Home, AR. And Shannon and Kevin Tritch of Paragould, AR. 3 sisters; June Simington of Pocahontas, Anne Gartner of Hastings, NE. And Billy Smith of Lawton, OK. Brother-in-law, Bill Crismon of Pocahontas. Several nieces and nephews. Mr. Giles was a member of Pocahontas First United Methodist Church, member of Randolph Lodge #71 and Smithville Lodge #29 of Free and Accepted Masons. Twice Past Master of Randolph Lodge #71. 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Received the Pillar of Solomon Award from the Arkansas Grand Lodge. He also enjoyed fellowship and activities at the Pocahontas Senior Center. And he won numerous metals and ribbons at Senior Olympics. Memorials may be made to Masonic Cemetery Fund. Services will be held Friday, December 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Rocky Sterns officiating. Burial will follow to Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday night from 5-7.
