POCAHONTAS-Thomas C. "Tommy" Getson of 2063 Harmony Road died Wednesday in the Kennedy Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis. He was born May 20, 1931 in O'Kean and was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Hazel Fowler Getson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Ray Getson and two sisters, Juanita Herald and Lois Steele. He was a member of the Shannon Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the United States Army from 1951 to 1956. Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Betty Jean Alphin Getson, a son, Thomas Randall "Randy" Getson of Pocahontas, a daughter, Linda Ann Crouch of Maynard, grandson Keith Daniel Crouch and wife, Whitney of Pocahontas, granddaughter, Karla JoAnn James and husband Blake, and one adorable great-grandson, Wesley Keith Crouch, of Ravenden Springs, three sisters, Betty Griffin of Oak Grove Heights, Doris Biggs of Petaluma, CA and Shirley Crabtree of Jonesboro, a brother, Henry Lee Gates of Shaffer, CA and a host of relatives and friends. Services will be held at 10am Saturday at the Shannon Baptist Church with Ron Berry officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery with full military honors provided by Promberger-Traw Post 4556 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Pallbearers will be Blake James, Keith Crouch, James Ross, Randy Freeman, Charlie Owens and Lloyd Gooch. Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Blackwell, Travis Alphin, Heath Alphin, David Alphin, Keith Getson, Jimmy Getson and Barkley Anis.. Visitation will be 5-8 Friday at McNabb Funeral Home
