Thomas Eugene "Gene" Thompson, age 87, of Pocahontas, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Five Rivers Medical Center. He was born February 17, 1925 in Shannon, Ar. to the late Ed and Flora Thompson. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Vera P. Thompson; two brothers, John Lingo and Dewey Thompson and a sister, Katherine Goff. He is survived by two sons, Larry (Ruth) Thompson of Jonesboro and Jimmy (Debbie) Thompson of Pearland, TX.; three daughters, Bea (Sonny) Mathews, Pat (Willis) Crisp, and Barb Wallis, all of Pocahontas; honorary daughter, Martha (Bill) McNutt of Walnut Ridge; nine grandchildren, Sonja Thielemier, Jennifer Chamberlain, Paige Stanton, Shannon Ogden, Sara Massey, Renda Smith, Bridget Wallis, Regina Carpenter and T.J. Thompson; one honorary grandchild, Drew McNutt; 20 great-grandchildren, Mat and Trevor Anderson, Alyson, Jeff and Darrin Thielemier, Parker, Emma and Connor Chamberlain, Brady and Laci Stanton, Kelsie, Kenan, and Kenzie Ogden, Kennedy and Karter Massey, Kaylee and Gabby Smith, Kayden Wallis-Collier, Austin and Breonna Carpenter; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Ace and Ian Anderson, Karlie, Lilly, Hunter, Cole and Aleah Thielemier. He is also survived by two sisters, Aldean Dildine and Marge Ballard of Pocahontas; sisters-in-law, Mildred (Harold) Davis, and Vada Schafer of Pocahontas and Billie Baker of O'Fallon, Mo., and brothers-in-law, Carl (Edna) Phillips of Potosi, Mo. And Jim Phillips of Tullahoma, Tn; special caregivers, Linda Hooton, Wanda Thielemier, Shirley Johnson, Virginia Helms, Chatty Compton, Vada Schafer, and Trevor Anderson. He was a member of Elnora Free Will Baptist Church where he served as Trustee for over 50 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elnora Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 19th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Jimmie Bundy officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. Pallbearers include: T.J.
