Obituary

Mr. Thomas Lee Fling of Jonesboro, departed this life Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, at the age of 80.

He was born August 8, 1941 in Denver, CO, the son of the late George Olin Fling and Emma Ellen Rodgers.

Thomas joined the Army in 1960 and proudly served his country for 3½ years.  He married Wanda Nunn on December 1, 1962 and they enjoyed 60 years together.  Following his time in the service he became a truck driver and drove for Service Express in Tuscaloosa, AL where he retired in 2004.  He enjoyed fishing and gold panning and his two dogs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Delbert, Donald, Richard, Bob, Dorothy, Pauline and Virginia; his daughter, Dierdre Elizabeth Fling and three grandsons, Brandon Lee Fling, Thomas Scott Fling, and Justin Fling.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda Fling of the home; five children, Leanne Huffman (Monty) of West Plains, MO, Casandra Fling of Paragould, Thomas Cecil Fling of Jonesboro, Jonathon Fling (Shawna) of Fulton, MO, and Amanda Bell (Jason) of Paragould;  siblings, Don, David, MaryAnn, Judy, Linda, Barbara Jean and Patricia; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2002 at the Pine Log Cemetery at Brookland with Jonny Surber officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors.  There will be no visitation.
