Thomas Dickie Flanigan, 79, of Pocahontas passed away Monday, August 3, 2026 at his home.

He was born October 13, 1946, in Pocahontas to the late Dewrell and Vera Mae Hibbard Flanigan. Dickie served in the Army for 3 years in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He later became a member of the American Legion and was a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served for 22 years on the honor guard where he faithfully honored hundreds of local veterans.

Dickie devoted 35 years to working for the federal government. He worked for the Army Corp of Engineers in Little Rock for 10 years before transferring to the Southwestern Power Administration in Jonesboro, retiring in 2001 as an electronics and communications technician. After retirement he took great pride in establishing a successful cattle farm from scratch.

In 2012 Dickie became a parishioner of St. John Catholic Church and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewrell and Vera Flanigan; and brothers, Randy and Calvin Flanigan.

Dickie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Hagan Flanigan; daughters, Melissa (Paul Green) Crain of Maynard and Ashley (Daniel) McQuary of Pocahontas; two grandsons, Austin Crain of Oregon and Zakry Crain of Maynard; granddaughter, Abagail McQuary of Pocahontas; sisters, Roberta (John) Warner of Mountain Home and Margaret Snow of Jonesboro; brothers, Ronnie Flanigan of Doniphan, MO and Paul (Iris) Flanigan of Supply; and many other relatives and friends.

All services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30 AM with a Rosary being said at 10:30 AM. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Fr. Samy officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Military honors will be rendered at the graveside by the Promberger-Traw VFW Post 4556 Honor Guard.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Daniel McQuary, Matt Fair, Joe Tom Carroll, Jeremy Stout, Dale Throesch, DeWayne Capps, and Howard Thielemier

Honorary Pallbearers will be Austin Crain, Abagail McQuary, and Zakry Crain.
