Obituary

Thelma Ingle Smith Sweet was born August 8, 1922 to Frank James Ingle and Aurena (Irene) Belle Fowler in Alicia Arkansas and left this world for heaven April 14, 2015 in Cottonwood, Arizona at the age of 92 years and 8 months. She is survived by her daughter Laurie Gay (Smith) and Son-in-Law William (Bill) BullockS of Cottonwood Arizona, Grandchildren, Patrick Bullock of Colorado Springs Colorado, Jennifer Bullock of Naples Florida, Robert , Jonathan Ryan Smith of Michigan, Ronald, Dudley, Frances Debbie(Rister) Smith of S. California and a very special niece Peggy (Smith) Turner of Warner Robbins Georgia. She also leaves behind 15 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by her 1st husband Golie Smith of Hoxie Arkansas and 2nd husband Stanley Sweet of Lake Orion Michigan, her sister Eileen (aka Shorty) Ingle Smith, her sons Ronald Dudley, Golie Dale, Frank DeWayne and James Lyle Smith. She will be buried at Randolph Memorial Gardens alongside her husband Golie, her sons Dale(aka Smitty), Frank and Jim along with her sister Eileen and brother-in-law Jim Smith. She was raised in Alicia where she excelled in school skipping two grades, played basketball, loved to dance, met and married Golie, the son of Frederick and Florence (Cotham)Smith when only 17. She had her 1st son Ronald Dudley the day before her 18th birthday. Golie Dale was born 2 years later. Her younger sister "Shorty" married Thelma's older brother-in-law Jim which made the two families very close. In 1949 She, Golie and the 2 sons moved to Keego Harbor Michigan where Frank, Laurie James were born. She loved Michigan very much and only left at the age of 80 when she needed to be closer to family in Arizona where she spent the remainder of her life. However Arkansas was always home. Graveside service will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Randolph Memorial Gardens under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
