Mrs. Thelma E. Smith of Harrisburg, departed this life on Thursday, October 27,2022 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro at the age of 80.

She was born September 16,1942 in Hickory Ridge, AR, the daughter of the late Robert Leon Taylor and Alma Estella Fore Taylor.

Thelma was a homemaker and had also worked at several nursing homes, St Bernard's and at Health South as a CNA. She married J.C. Smith on June 30, 1956 and they enjoyed 66 years together, She and J.C. raised several foster children through the years. She loved her flowers, canning, crocheting and loved being outdoors. Her main joy in life was spending time with her family. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Harrisburg.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Barker.

She is survived by her husband, J.C. of the home; five children, Donna Tubbs and her husband Larry of Hernando MS, Tommy Smith of Bartlett, TN, Cindy Smith Baty of Harrisburg, Misty Mason and her husband Mitchell of Marked Tree, Michael Smith and his wife Brandy of Judsonia; one brother, J.R. Taylor and his wife Christine of Harrisburg; one sister, Margie Henderson and her husband H.M. of Fisher; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, Monday, October 31,2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Graveside funeral services are 11:30 a.m., Monday, October 31,2022 at the Fisher Cemetery, with Rev. Kenny McMahan officiating. Pallbearers will be Jamie Peck, Paul Masters, Drake Masters,  Johnnie Ray Reese, Jaden Reese, and Michael Smith.  The men of Shiloh Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
