Obituary

Jonesboro- Tersia "Bill" Shelton, 96, passed away Saturday October 25, 2014 at the St. Bernard's Medical Center. She was born August 25, 1918 in McCrory to the late James and Roxie Annie Garrett. She was a homemaker formerly of Hickory Ridge and Pumpkin Bend and has lived in Jonesboro since 1943. She was very active in her church and worked in the Walnut Street Baptist Church Daycare for many years. Helping people was her favorite hobby, she also enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting and knitting. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Collins of Jonesboro; two sons and their wives, Jack Shelton Jr. and Kathleen of Mesz, AZ and Tom Shelton and Dianna of Independence, KY; a brother and his wife, George D. Garrett and Kathryn of Alexander; a daughter-in-law, Alice Shelton of Jonesboro; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, B. F. "Jack" Shelton Sr.; a son, Ben Shelton; two grandsons, Matt Shelton and John Shelton; a brother, Paul Garrett; a sister, Lucille Garrett. Services will be held 2 pm Thursday October 30, 2014 at Walnut Street Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Shatley officiating. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral home. Friends may visit Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 4 to 6 pm at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave. Honored to serve as pallbearers, her grandsons, Tim, Ken, Jay, Greg Shelton, Daniel Collins and Michael Allen. Lasting memorials may be sent to Walnut Street Baptist Church.
