On Monday, September 14, 2020, Terry "T.J." Miller Jr. was celebrated into the presence of the Lord around 1:30 AM. After a 13 month-long battle with colon cancer, he left this world peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones and the prayers of his church family and friends.
T.J. was born on January 30, 1986 in Jonesboro, AR.
He is survived by his parents, Terry Miller Sr. and Michelle Miller of the home; his sister, Courtney Miller-Roberts (Alex Roberts) of Lillian, AL; his Granny, Mary Hinkle of Trumann, AR; his aunt, Vicki Miller (Keith Junkersfeld) of Jonesboro, AR; and his uncle, Scott Miller (Miscy Miller) of Searcy, AR.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard Miller of Pocahontas, AR; and maternal grandparents, Curtis and Goldie Mae Koehler of Doniphan, MO.
T.J. graduated from Buffalo Island Central High School in 2004 and received a B.S.E. of Physical Education with a Coaching Endorsement from Arkansas State University in 2010. He was employed as a bank teller at Integrity First/Farmers and Merchants Bank of Pocahontas for eight and a half years. T.J. was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and served as the Youth Pastor and Worship Leader at the First Assembly of God Church in Pocahontas for the past twelve years.
T.J. was known for his infectious smile, courageous attitude, and willingness to help anyone in need. He loved Christmas to the fullest, often affectionately called "Buddy the Elf," creating elaborate Christmas villages, decorating the bank and the church, as well as his home and self, in exquisite Christmas decorations and costumes. T.J. was also an avid fan of the Arkansas State Red Wolves and St. Louis Cardinals.
His main goal in life was to be known as a true "believing believer" and his life and testimony reflects those wishes. His love of the Lord and his worship and peacefulness through the terrible storms he has faced during his short but bright 34 years has been a blessing and beacon of hope to all who have come to know him.
The visitation will be Wednesday, September 16, from 3 PM - 8 PM at First Assembly of God Church at 605 S. Park St. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, September 17, at 10 AM, also at First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Cecil Culbreth officiating, assisted by Bro. Gregory Roberson. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. All COVID-19 guidelines as recommended by the Arkansas Department of Health will be followed to ensure everyone's safety.
To follow the directives of Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, masks covering the mouth and nose are required for all persons in Arkansas for all indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to non-household members where social distancing cannot be assured. Those attending will also be asked to sign a contact registry and maintain a social distance.
