Monette- Ted L. Finley, 73, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born September 16, 1942 in Campbell, Missouri to the late Guy and Vista Metcalf Finley. Ted retired after 29 years with the Southwestern Energy Company. He had been a Monette resident most of his life and graduated from Monette High School in 1960. He was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church. He will be remember as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and for his humor, laughter and smile. Ted loved so many things in life- mostly his daughter, Marti. He loved and cherished her and her dog Charlye. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved watching sports on TV. Special gifts bestowed upon Teddie was a gift of playing the guitar by ear, writing songs and singing. He especially enjoyed old gospel and country music. He truly loved music and was a member of a quartet of which he dearly loved for many years. In later years, he became an enthusiastic pool player and would rather play that than eat! He is survived by his wife, Raye Craig Finley; a daughter, Marti Finley Ladd of Monette; two sisters, Gail Mangrum (Keith) and Anyllue Dunigan Qualls all of Monette; two brothers, Steve Finley of Jonesboro and Bob Finley (Amy) of Cherokee Village. He also leaved behind many beloved nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Leon Finley. A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Reed and Rev. Rusty Bird officiating. Burial will be at Macey Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette. The family will receive friends from12:30 until 2:00 pm, Thursday at the church. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Wayne Ray, Bill Craig, Rusty Craig, Michael Ray, Jeff Devereaux and Tom Craig and honorary pallbearers, W.T. Bibb, Bill Stacy, Robert Chambers, Bill Harrell, Bob Blankenship, Kenny Lomax, Bob Bryant, Leo Fortenberry, John Steele, Connie Cason, Dewey Roddy, Troy Henry and the Monette High School Class of 1960. Lasting memorials may be sent to Flo Phil Jones Hospice House or Monette First Baptist Church Family Life Center or the American Cancer Society.
