Obituary

Taylor Eugene Lillard of Pocahontas went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2015 at the age of 85 years 9 months and 20 days. Taylor was born on March 16, 1929 at Ravenden, AR. The youngest of 11 children born to John Watson and Hazel Cowley Lillard. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army. He married Inez Humphries on June 7, 1952 and they were married for over 60 years before the Lord took her home on March 13, 2013. Taylor moved with his family to Smithville where they bought the Old Carson White place where John and Debbie now live and worked many jobs. He worked at the feed store, farmed with Sloan Durham and then retired from the White River Medical Center in Batesville, AR. But his favorite job was being a father and paw paw. Taylor never met a stranger and loved everyone. He is a member of Smithville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and has also served as music leader for years. He loved his church and didn't like missing church and wouldn't unless his health wouldn't allow for him to be there. Taylor enjoyed spending time with his family. He spent lots of his time cutting wood and hunting with the boys. He loved going fishing and catching catfish. Then he would come home and we would have a big fish fry. As long as he was able Fridays was a time he spent with John and Wesley cutting wood. He looked forward to this time. Taylor enjoyed playing music and singing with friends and family. He spent a lot of time with his brothers, nephews and other family members singing. He did this until a few years ago when he could no longer do this. He loved singing at church with his family. His biggest accomplishment was being a good husband, father, uncle and paw paw. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and his loving wife Inez., a son-in-law Eugene Young and a grandson Royce Oden Jr. He is survived by one son John (Debbie) Lillard of Smithville, three daughters Nancy Young of Pocahontas, Connie Lillard of Pocahontas and Teresa (Bill) Bussey of Fountain Inn, SC. He is also survived by three grandchildren Travis (Holli) Lillard of Pocahontas, Wesley (Missy) Lillard of Smithville and Jennie Oden of Pocahontas, five great-grandchildren Brooke and Tanner Lillard of Pocahontas, Abigail (Abby) Lillard of Smithville, K'dee and Christian Oden of Pocahontas and two step-grandchildren Marshall Young of Pocahontas and Jamie Bussey (B.J.) Parsons of London, OH. Many other friends and family morn their loss. Visitation for Taylor will be on Thursday January 8, 2015 at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas from 5-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Smithville Baptist Church, Friday January 09, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Johnny Worsham and Keith Marlin officiating. Burial will follow at the Smtihville Cemetery Brother Jay Wilkins will be in charge of the grave side services. Pallbearers will be his Nephews, Ricky and Ronnie Malone, Marshall Young, Alexander and Jeremy Lally and James Murrell. Honorary Pallbearers will include the Deacons of Smithville Baptist Church, Sloan and Courtney Durham, Mark and Howard Brannon, Danny Oliver, Tom Lillard and the Randolph Home Nursing Home Staff. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked that a donation be made to Smithville Baptist Church Building Fund.
