Jonesboro- Elizabeth Sue Bell, 74, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on March 4, 1939 in Monette to the late Alva and Anna Harbin Brown. Mrs. Bell retired after many years of managing the Jewelry Department at J. C. Penney's and was a member of the Central Baptist Church. She was a devoted daughter, a loving wife, a fantastic mother, wonderful sister, amazing aunt and the best Nana. She was blessed with caring and loving neighbors. She enjoyed being a member of two card clubs, and taking the time to socialize with her many friends. She was a lifelong learner, with an interest in expanding her knowledge on numerous subjects. She loved the beauty of nature especially its wide variety of beautiful birds and colorful flowers. A wonderful cook and prizewinning baker, she always enjoyed a good pizza party. Her co-workers may have been known as associates, but to her they were a part of her extended family. She was respectful of other folks and their opinions even if she did not share them. Though she enjoyed lively discussions, one would seldom see her argue. She was a loving, caring woman with an inner glow that many saw through her porcelain complexion. Her family is comforted by her faith knowing that she is in a better place where she will be welcomed into open arms. A true Angel on earth, with elegance and dignity, Heaven is brighter now. She is survived by her son and his wife, Mark and Betty Bell of Memphis; two sisters and their husbands, Mary Ann and Bennie Minton of Manila and Fran and Chuck Stotts of Bismarck; her daughter-in-law, Laura Gramling; six grandchildren, Catherine Willis, Candace Weeks (Hatton) and Cody Willoughby all of Jonesboro, Sarah Clayton (Ish) of Dallas, Sally Bell of Hampton, England and Robert Hathaway of Memphis; six great-grandchildren, Lexi Willis, Ethan Willis, Kason Willis, Chase Weeks and Lauren Weeks, all of Jonesboro and Vincent Hathaway of Memphis; and many loving friends and neighbors who cared so much for her. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bell and their oldest son, William "Bill" Bell. A celebration of her life will be 10:00 am, Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
