Sherwood- Stephen York Strickland, 71, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born December 10, 1951 in Jonesboro. Steve received his Bachelor degree in Psychology and Business at Arkansas State University and a Masters in Communications at University of Arkansas in Little Rock. He retired from Danfoss in Arkadelphia where he was the director of human resources and had previously worked in human resources for Darling Store Fixtures in Paragould.

Steve enjoyed playing golf, betting at the horse races, raising thoroughbred horses and traveling various places especially the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Strickland; son, Christopher Michael Strickland; granddaughter, Madisyn Strickland both of Chesapeake, VA; step-mother, Jewell Strickland of Kingsburg, CA and two half-sisters, Karen Strickland and Lee Ann Strickland both of Kingsburg.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Scott Strickland; his mother, Minnie Jean Cockrum Apkarian and father, Alvin Strickland.

A celebration of his life will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery.

The visitation will be from noon until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Gary Ray, Denson Rivers, Tom Waleszonia, Jimmy Baker, Rick Izor and Charlie Kratts and as honorary pallbearers, Larry Cole and John Shelton.
