Augusta- Stephen Ralph Maynard, 70, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Unity Hospital (White County Hospital) in Searcy.

Steve was born in Monahans, Texas, on August 22, 1948, to the late Ralph Owen Maynard and Mildred Josephine Goff Maynard. The family moved to Jonesboro when Steve was around six or seven years old. He graduated from Jonesboro High School and Arkansas State University. He taught history, and social studies and coached at several high schools in the state. Steve loved sports, and he enjoyed talking sports with anyone he met. He had recently taken up pickle ball which he enjoyed playing as often as he could.

Steve is survived by his wife, Elaine of Augusta; two brothers-in-law, Garren Wilson of Pocahontas and Olen Wilson (Jimmie) of Imboden.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Roark Maynard.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation services were provided by Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
