Obituary
Ms. Sophia Mae Sears, of Harrisburg, departed this life Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the Woodbriar Nursing Home, at the age of 98.
She was born December 28, 1919 in Fisher, Arkansas, the daughter of the late William Lemuel Sears and Emma Matilda Shultz Sears.
She was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of the Whitehall Church of Christ, where she was involved as a Bible class teacher. She was a caregiver and cared for her parents until they passed away. The one work experience she had outside the home was during WW II, when she went to Memphis to work in the ammunition plant. She has been a resident of Woodbriar Nursing Home for the past 10 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles L. Sears in 2004, Dollie Jones in 2006, Jerry T. Sears in 2008, Lucille Worley in 2012 and Dorothy Anderson in 2015.
She is survived many nieces and nephews and many, many great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg with Mr. Kevin Beard officiating. Interment will follow in Tyre Cemetery at Hydrick.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday morning, 10:00 a.m. till service time.
