Obituary
Hardy- Sidney Glen Smithee, 74, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
He was born January 20, 1944 in Monette to the late Ellis and Ruth Ward Smithee. Mr. Smithee proudly service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. He was an engine tech with Caterpillar for over thirty years. He was an avid racing fan and NASCAR fan.
He is survived by three sisters, Mildred Miller and Joyce Vaughn both of Jonesboro and Barbara Muller (Bud) of Hardy; a brother, J. W. Smithee of Rockfalls, IL; two step-daughters, Keri Harper and Missy Carter both of Peoria, IL.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Smithee and Gary Smithee; two sisters, Wilma Fortson and Iva Smithee.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 11:00 am Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with George Williamson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Lasting memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
