Shirley Collins Simpson of Jonesboro, formally of Pocahontas, passed away on August 17, 2025, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

She was born to Glendon and Mary Christine Hufstedler Collins on July 19, 1939, in Pocahontas.

Shirley was a faithful member of Valley View Church of Christ in Jonesboro, where she was known as Grandma Shirley to all. She was an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinal fan. She loved sports, playing cards, any kind of games, and working puzzles with her daughter.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, stepdad, John Gordon, sister, Billie (Louie) Ulmer, and brother John Ray Gordon.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Lisa) Simpson of Claremont, CA, Rhonda (Kim) McDaniel of Jonesboro, AR and Doug (Lisa) Simpson of Richmond, TX; eight grandchildren, Jake Simpson, Kimberly Sanders, Chandler Simpson, Kale McDaniel, Lauren Gledhill, Alan Simpson, Lilia Simpson and Remi Simpson; five great grandchildren with one on the way; sister, Dianne (Frank) Harris and brother, Scott (Julie) Gordon, sister-in-law, Karen Gordon Talley along with many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 am with Spencer Furby officiating. All services will be held in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kale McDaniel, Jake Simpson, Chandler Simpson, Andrew Gordon, John Gordon and Cliff Hufstedler.
