Obituary

Monette- Shirley Sipes Rice, 64, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015. She was born April 3, 1951 in Paragould to the late Jack and Helen Lewis Sipes of Monette. She was a graduate of Monette High School and was a hairdresser and a homemaker. A few of the many things she will be remembered for is her wonderful cooking and her love and faith she had for The Lord. She took pleasure in many things but spending time with her grand-daughter, Sophie, was what she treasured the most. She was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church where many years she enjoyed teaching Sunday school to some very special ladies. She was a devoted Christian woman who read her Bible daily and witnessed to anyone and everyone. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Rex, of the home; two daughters, Candace Sipes (Chad Davis) of Bono and Lindsay Rice of Bono and her granddaughter, Sophie Rice; sister, Charlotte Stewart (Mike) of Nashville, TN; a niece, Angie Raymont (Doug) of Nashville, TN; nephew, Chris Stewart (Laura) of Knoxville, TN; great nephews, Parker Stewart and Lincoln and Pearce Raymont, and a great niece, Kayla Stewart. She is also survived by a host of many friends including some very special ones, Diane, Geneva, Rhonda, and Barbara. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents, HG and Mildred Lewis and Henry and Mollie Sipes. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 pm Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Monette First Baptist Church. A celebration of her life will be 6:30 pm Tuesday at the church with Jason Cline and Rev. Rusty Bird officiating. A private burial will be Wednesday at Linwood Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Chad Davis, Mike Stewart, Keith Ainsworth, Ernie Rice, Brandon Decker, Bobby Davis, and Jan Cole Roddy. Last memorials may be sent to Monette First Baptist Church, Make-A-Wish Foundation, or Arkansas Baptist Children\u0027s Home.
