Bono- Shirley Ann Dodson, 78, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born November 8, 1944 in Jonesboro to the late Bill and Pearl Robinson Adams. Shirley was a teacher with Westside School District for forty-two years and was a Golden Ruler Award recipient. Longtime member of the Bono City Council. She loved to dress up and go places. She was a member of the Washington Ave Church of Christ. Shirley was a devoted mother and Nana who loved being with her family.  She was also a member of the Busy Women's Club in Bono and volunteered to help her community with meals. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Retired Teachers Association and stayed close to her Westside family.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Ray Dodson; a granddaughter, Autumn Skye Welch; sister, Wilma Ellen Gum and brothers, Vercieal Adams, Billy Ray Adams and Wayne Adams.

She is survived by her children, Gayla Lankford (Terry)  and Grayson Dodson all of Bono; grandchildren, Kyle Carter (Brittany) and Sarah
Carter; great-grandchildren, Brilynn Carter, Lillian Carter and Anni Carter; a sister, Geneva Gray of Jonesboro; a brother, Doyle Adams (Joy) of Jonesboro and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Aaron Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Eric Adams, Ricky Adams, Marcus Stephens, Mike Parrish, Danny Shaw and Jonathan Webb and honorary pallbearers the Washington Ave Church of Christ members.
