Shirley Marcella Banning, 83, of Maynard and Dalton areas in Arkansas, departed this like of September 12, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a cherished member of her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, John Banning; her son, Kenneth Akins, and Kenneth’s precious friend, Debbie Hodges, of Blossom, Texas; and her son, David Akins, and his wife Heather of Pocahontas.
She was a proud grandmother to Garrett Akins, Madison Courtney, Dominque Akins, Logan Akins, Tyler Akins, and Lexi Soles. Shirley treasured her grandchildren and loved nothing more than spending time with them and spoiling them whenever she could.
Shirley found joy in the simple things in life-taking scenic drives, sitting along the banks of Spring River, hosting family meals, and most of all, spending time with the people she loved. Her home and table were often places where family gathered, shared a meal, and made memories together.
Shirley worked for 20 years at Hart’s Furniture and later spent 6 years at Cedar Street Day Care. Through her years of work and throughout her life, she touched the lives of many people with her kindness and caring nature.
Her family will remember Shirley for her loving heart, her devotion to her family, and the many memories she created with those she loved. She will be deeply missed, but her love and memories she leaves behind will remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for Mary Watson and Legacy Hospice for the wonderful care you provided.
Visitation will be held 12:00 – 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with the funeral to begin at 2:00 pm in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel with Shawn McElhannon officiating. A Burial will follow in the Ingram Cemetery
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Dennis Kerley, Garrett Akins, Paul Flannigan, Jonathan Courtney, Alex Becerra, and Justin Soles.
